The center of Lipari, divided into 2 villages (Marina Corta and Marina Lunga), is located on the east side of the island. In Marina Corta there is a marina only for small fishing boats and, in any case, reserved for local boating. In front of Marina Corta or immediately south of the port entrance, it is possible to anchor on a sandy bottom of about 12 meters depth. Beware of local traffic when approaching. This anchorage is ideal for visiting the village or spending a night there.
A little further north we can find Marina Lunga, where there are several floating docks available for mooring, with all the essential services for yachts. Otherwise there are floating docks a little more sheltered inside the small marina (Porto Pignataro) dedicated to yachts. In the bay of Marina Lunga you can re-fuel at the “Eolian Bunker” pier just outside Porto Pignataro. I recommend always giving priority to scheduled ferries and paying attention especially in high season.
In Lipari, it is worth hiring a car or a moped to visit the interior of the island. Among the many delicious restaurants of Lipari, the “Trattoria del Vicolo”, “il ristorante la Kasbah”, and “il ristorante da Filippino” certainly deserve a visit. For a very good granita or a typical Sicilian dessert we recommend “Ambra” pastry shop in Marina Corta or “Subba” in Marina Lunga.
